Since the Medinah Open was played here in 1930, Course #3 has been the site of twelve major golf championships. Included among these tournaments were the 1999 PGA Championship, three U. S. Opens, one U.S. Senior Open, and three Western Opens. Winners at Medinah include such golf legends as “Lighthorse” Harry Cooper, Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson, Dr. Cary Middlecoff, Billy Casper, Gary Player, Hale Irwin and Tiger Woods. In addition, U. S. Open and PGA champions ( Tommy Armour and Ralph Guldahl) served as head professionals at Medinah
